Question 1

What is Waimin?

Accepted Answer

Waimin is a household water remineralizer. It adds minerals and electrolytes back into water that has been filtered, purified, treated with reverse osmosis, or distilled. It is not a water filter, it’s a complement to filtration, for the next step after your water has been cleaned.

Question 2

Who is Waimin for?

Accepted Answer

Households, families, and individuals using filtered or distilled water who want to restore minerals and electrolytes to their daily drinking water. It’s also available for wholesale through water industry retailers, wellness stores, and distribution partners.

Question 3

Can I use Waimin with reverse osmosis water?

Accepted Answer

Yes. RO water is one of the primary use cases Waimin was designed for. RO systems are highly effective at removing contaminants but also reduce naturally occurring minerals. Waimin helps restore these in a simple, practical way.

Question 4

Can I use Waimin with filtered water?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The degree to which filtration reduces minerals varies by system. Some carbon filters preserve most minerals; others reduce them more. Waimin is suitable for use with most filtered water. If unsure about your system, feel free to contact us or refer to your trusted professional.

Question 5

Why not just add the minerals yourself?

Accepted Answer

You could, but it’s fiddly to do consistently, and easy to forget. We designed waimin to fit the modern, busy household: once it’s installed, every glass from the tap comes out remineralized automatically, so the whole family gets great-quality water with the minerals filtration takes out, with no measuring, no mixing, nothing to remember.

Question 6

Does Waimin replace a water filter?

Accepted Answer

No. Waimin is not a water filter and does not remove contaminants or purify water. It’s designed for use after filtration, as a complementary step. We recommend always filtering your water first with a system suited to your water source.

Question 7

How often do I use Waimin?

Accepted Answer

Waimin is designed for everyday use: once installed, it works automatically. Each remineralizing cartridge lasts approximately 1,000 litres before it needs replacing, depending on your water usage. Replacement cartridges are available on our website.

Question 8

What minerals are included?

Accepted Answer

Waimin adds four key minerals and electrolytes back into your water (calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium) in a consistent, measured dose as water passes through the unit. These are the naturally occurring minerals most often reduced by reverse osmosis, distillation, and deep purification.

Question 9

Is Waimin suitable for families?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Waimin adds naturally occurring minerals (calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium) back into everyday drinking water, making it suitable for everyone in the household. If you have any specific health concerns, we recommend seeking advice from your medical professional.

Question 10

Is Waimin available for wholesale?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work with water filtration retailers, reverse osmosis companies, wellness stores, kitchen and homeware retailers, and distributors. Visit our Wholesale page to submit a trade enquiry for pricing, MOQs, and terms.

Question 11

Where can I buy Waimin?

Accepted Answer

Waimin is available to buy directly through this website. To find your nearest distributor, or to enquire about becoming a stockist, please get in touch via our Wholesale page.

Question 12

Does Waimin make medical claims?

Accepted Answer

No. Waimin is a household water product, not a medicine or regulated health supplement. It adds minerals and electrolytes back into filtered or purified water. We do not make medical claims. For specific health conditions, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.

Question 13

How do I install Waimin?

Accepted Answer

Installation takes about 20 to 40 minutes, and everything you need is in the box.

1. Plan the space: Use the schematic on the base of the box to plan where the unit sits in the under-bench cupboard. Measure from your filtration outlet to the Waimin inlet, and from the Waimin outlet to the drinking water faucet.
2. Turn the water off: Shut off the water to your existing filtration system. If there is no shut-off valve in the cupboard, turn the water off to the dwelling, usually at the water meter.
3. Release the pressure: Turn the drinking water faucet on and wait until the water stops flowing.
4. Cut the faucet line: Disconnect the filtration outlet tubing that runs to the drinking water faucet, and cut it where the Waimin outlet will connect. Keep a bowl or towel underneath.
5. Connect the faucet side: Push the tubing still attached to the drinking water faucet into the Waimin OUTLET. Check the tube for kinks or collapsed walls.
6. Build the inlet line: Push one end of the supplied 1/4" tubing into the shut-off valve and the other end into the Waimin INLET. Tug the valve collet gently: it should not move.
7. Connect the filtration side: Connect your filtration system’s outlet line into the inlet of the new shut-off valve.
8. Turn the water back on: Open the filtration system supply and the new shut-off valve. The valve handle is open when it sits parallel to the tubing.
9. Check for leaks: Check the filtration outlet, both Waimin connections, and the faucet connection. Fix any leak before moving on.
10. Settle any vibration: If the faucet vibrates in use, close the shut-off valve a quarter turn at a time until it stops, then set the handle between half and fully open.
11. Charge the unit: Run the drinking water faucet for about 30 minutes. This charges the cartridge so it starts dispensing remineralized water.

If your setup looks different from the schematic on the box, stop and ask us before cutting a line.

Question 14

Do I need a plumber to install Waimin?

Accepted Answer

No plumbing work is required for a standard under-bench RO or filter system: every connection is a push-fit on existing 1/4" or 3/8" tubing. Call a plumber if there is no shut-off valve in the cupboard, if your tubing is old or perished, or if you are not comfortable cutting the faucet line. Everything needed is in the box. A bowl or towel to catch water is useful.

Question 15

What's in the box?

Accepted Answer

Waimin Remineralizer unit: Head plus mineral cartridge, assembled
1/4" tubing: For the new line between the shut-off valve and the inlet
Quick-connect shut-off valve: Fits between your filtration outlet and Waimin
3/8" × 1/4" reducing connectors (×2): For systems plumbed in 3/8" tubing
Tube cutter: Cuts square without collapsing the tube. Keep away from children

Question 16

What do I do if it leaks after installation?

Accepted Answer

Turn the water off at the shut-off valve and open the faucet to release pressure before touching anything. Then work from wherever the drip is.

At the filtration unit or shut-off valve: Turn the water off at the filtration system and open the faucet to release pressure. Disconnect the filtration outlet tubing and check the cut is square, recut it if not. Replace the tube if it has split or perished, then reconnect and retest.

At the Waimin unit: Turn off the shut-off valve and open the faucet to release pressure. Disconnect the tubing at Waimin, check for a square edge, recut if needed, reconnect, then reopen the valve and retest.

At the drinking water faucet: Turn off the shut-off valve and open the faucet to release pressure. Check the faucet tubing connection is fully seated, reconnect, then reopen the valve and retest.

In the existing tubing: Older filtration or faucet tubing that leaks has usually perished. Replace the tubing rather than re-seating it.
